Ulta Red Carpet Red

Hi guys!

This ones a classic red that I bought for art purposes. Unfortunately, it isn't as opaque as I wanted. It has more of a Jelly finish (explains the VNL) that would be favourable for glitter sandwiches so it will prove its use soon but for now, it will be worn on its own.

Gelish Soak-off Gel Polish in "Up In The Blue"

Hey guys,

This is a swatch of a new gel polish I got. It looks like a periwinkle blue. Since it is a cream color, I added a little bit of silver glitter to my ring finger. I used craft glitter from Michael's, a craft store.

Here's how I did it: I applied Finger Paints bonder to the tips and then applied a Soak-off Base Coat, That cured for 30 seconds in a LED lamp, then I applied 4 coats of Up in The Blue curing in between each coat and then top coated and cured that as well. For the accent nail, I did two coats of top coat to get a smooth texture.
Below is some sample pictures of the glitter I used. According to the package, its the extra fine kind.

Hope you enjoyed reading!

Review: Finger Paints Gel Polish Soak-Off Gel LED Curing Light

Hey guys,

In nail school, I was taught how to apply gel polish and I wanted to share with you my review of this new product on the market. I got mine from Sally's Beauty Supply and it was around $60 which is an excellent price for a lamp since the professional ones can run up to $500. It comes in a little box as shown below.

The lamp itself has a compact design which makes it much easier to travel with than with other professional brands that I've used. It's also not as heavy. Artistic Color Design makes one with a fairly compact design but that one is a little heavy to me. This Finger Paints lamp feels flimsy at times when you're moving it around but it is much more lightweight. As long as you don't intend on moving it around like crazy at a salon, it is a good household lamp.

When the LED is turned on, it emits a warm feeling on your nails/hands but it doesn't produce this intense sensation like the Artistic Design one. The Artistic Design lamp has much stronger bulbs which can be very painful if your nail tech does not know how to apply gel properly but I haven't experienced any burning with this lamp. If there is any sensation at all, it is temporary and not a big deal.

Finally, the care instructions and technical specs of the lamp if you're interested. For any additional information on the Artistic Color Design lamp, check out this link: http://www.professionalbeauty.com.au/2011/04/12/artistic-colour-gloss-led-starter-kit/
Or more information on the lamp I mentioned,  http://www.sallybeauty.com/led-curing-light/SBS-806425,default,pd.html

I would recommend this lamp for someone who is fairly skilled at doing their nails at home and hates the drying time that it takes and when it smudges on you. I hate when that happens! It's also really convenient and portable. If you have any questions for me, leave them in the comments below! Thanks for reading.

Um.... I'm back (sorta)

Hey guys,

I'm back with a much needed update for where I've been and what I've been doing. It's simple really. I don't know how to really tell you guys but.... I started nail school!!! yay! lol

I haven't really been in the groove of blogging since I got back to Toronto but I'm going to have to try my best. I'm hoping for some response to my posts and I apologize for not posting. I blame my video game addiction ugh. Some of you may know how it is.

This is what I've been up to with my nails:
Here I'm wearing Sally Hansen Barracuda. Pretty little light blue. It's cute.

And in this pic, I have on Chanel Taboo which a classmate of mine did on me! It's amazing. So pretty. Hope you're all doing well! Thanks for reading!

Update

Hi everyone,

I haven't posted in a whole month. The main reason is that my nails are permanently stained and I can't find any better way to cure this problem than to not paint them for a while and let it grow out. The other reason is that I don't have much free time which leaves less time for me to blog. My life has been quite stressing the past month but it's stressing in a good way. I have lots to accomplish in the coming months since I'm hoping to enroll in nail school.

All in all, I just wanted to let you all know what's been up, but I couldn't leave without some pictures of nails.

This one is Essie Topless and Barefoot which is a nude shade. I painted my nails just this once on Sunday for a family outing but I took it off the next day so my nails could breathe again.

And this is the horror that is my progress so far. Looks like it's almost there. One more month should do it.

I deeply apologize for not posting but even if I did, I wonder who would still read my blog. If you're reading, could you please leave me a comment letting me know if you're still interested in my posts? I'm really curious.
