Orly by Quo Turquoise Moonlight Swatch and Review

Hi everyone,

Today I have a glass flecked polish. It is a collaboration between the Canadian brand Quo and Orly. Orly is kinda hard to find in Canada unless you go to Sally's Beauty Supply which isn't close to where I live so I bought this one in Shoppers Drug Mart. Quo by Orly is relatively new in stores. This one is a dupe of Orly Hailey's Coment which was a colour I wanted for a long while.

I would describe it as having turquoise gold flecks and in some lights, it even looks purple. You can kind of see it in the bottle, not so much on the nails. I'm sure there's also many other dupes of this mermaid-like colour. Glee by JulieG is another dupe.
Enjoy!

Swatch and Description: piCture pOlish mardi gras

I have a NOTD with mardi gras by piCture pOlish which is a clear base with multicolored glitters. It has some magenta, silver and teal hex glitters and tiny specks of fine teal and silver glitter. It is very deserving of the name as well as these are classic mardi gras colours.

The swatches I show you have one coat of mardi gras over Sally Hansen Dorian Grey, which I have a post of here.

Please excuse my paper cut =S

a England She Walks in Beauty

Hi everyone,

This polish is really special to me :) It was a top pick in my wishlist so I've been lusting after this one for quite some time and it's finally on my nails yay! It's also my first a England polish. This company seems to release really unique polishes!

I would describe it as gold foil with both small and big specks of lilac glitter. It applies somewhat thickly. You have to have good control of glitters. I find that it's a little gritty without top coat and it can get onto the tip of the nail and make it prickly. But I don't mind going the extra mile in rearranging the glitters and making sure it is even. It is so worth it!!

Enjoy the pictures.

NOTD Zoya Lana

Hi everyone,

This poilsh is a redish orange with a gold shimmer. I bought this one on sale at Trade Secrets so maybe it's because it's not that pretty colour. I like it though because it has a duochrome element. It goes on opaque in minimum 2 coats but it's likely best to do 3 becaus these duochromes usually are sheer. The swatches below are with 2 coats tho and a top coat. Only flaw with this polish is its brushstrokes. I don't mind it too much because if you can control your painting well, it won't matter :)

Forever 21 Love & Beauty NOTD (And a Essense Bonus too)

Hi everyone!

Two sets of swatches today. The first one is Love & Beauty purple. I don't know the name of it because it's not written on the bottle and I peeled off the price tag already :s It kind of shifts between purple and pink because of the deep purple base with strong hints of pink glitter. It's fairly opaque in two coats as shown below and is relatively easy to apply in terms of brush use. I am surprised at the quality of these polishes because they're really cheap ($3.80 per bottle) and the quality is on par to OPI or China Glaze. It's amazing how good they are.

This next swatch is Essence Chic Reloaded. It is a dark grey with several colours shot through. It has like a hidden rainbow if you check it out in a magnified view. It might be a tiny bit holographic. I don't know for sure. I bought this one because it reminded me of Zoya Edyta which is a similar shade but Essence Chic Reloaded is not as shimmery (I think). But nonetheless, the hint of multicolour shimmer is really pretty!

NOTD OPI

Hi everyone,

I was thinking of not posting today because I just don't have much to say about my nails today. I felt the need to take on a change so I changed my nail shape! No more squoval. It's kinda round/stiletto shape now. I'm happy with the change.

Nicole by OPI Bah-Plum Bug!

This one is a plum purple with a slight red shimmer. Opaque in 2 coats.

Bah Plum-Bug! is one of the first polishes I ever owned. It was in a sale bin at Shoppers and being that I wasn't too interested in nail polish at the time but nonetheless, it was on sale so I picked it up. The shimmer is subtle yet still noticeable if you look at it up close. When I first used it, I was pleasantly surprised at this somewhat hidden shimmer.

I can't believe for a bottle so old it is still holding up.

And I got inspired by a few people (The Swatchaholic & Chalkboard Nails & Gorgeois) to do nail art with this colour as the base... Take a look!

There's no second layer of top coat but the pictures above have one so this design was done with this base colour Nicole by OPI Bah plum-bug, top coat and then a layer of acrylic paints (I used magenta, green and yellow!)

Nfu Oh #069

Hi everyone

I have a foil finish polish today! I own only 2 foils  I think another one I have is a silver. This one is by Nfu Oh and it's #69. It's a silver greyish deep dark blue. Kinda mysterious in a bold way. I think it's super reflective. It looks crazy shiny in the sun and is bound to blind some people lol!

I wonder: Are people still interested in nail art stamping anymore?

Sally Hansen Insta-dry It's a Flurry NOTD

Wow, it's been 3 days. I can't believe I haven't posted in so long. It's mainly because of this thing called a video game. I don't know if you've heard of it. It's actually incredibly addicting ;)

Anyway, today I've got a neat little polish for you. It's this dark grey-green jelly with flecks of silver, purple and gold glitter in it. It is super multidimensional and super pretty! Hope you like!

Tribal Nails

I was inspired by this nail art wheel I found on Instgram done by Allison Davey of Pinky's Nails, a local nail art studio in the city. I was also inspired after watching a video by Robin Moses called Indie Chic. The design itself is really intricate and detailed so I was scared to try it at first but I challenged myself and just went for it. I hope it looks okay :S

I used Sally Hansen Hard as Nails as the orange-ish gold and Essie Going Incognito as the forest green. The gold is a Forever 21 Love & Beauty polish. Anddd some acrylic paint in black and white. Also a fine stripper brush. Unfortunately I don't know the name of the orange cuz I polished over the label on the cap :s

So... What do you guys think?

UPDATE: I smudged my thumb and was unsatisfied with my index finger for the longest time so I changed those two nails.

My First Nail Art Wheel

Hi guys,

I was browsing around for the Toronto nail scene and came across some blogs that showcased nail art wheels and I thought hm.... I could do that. So that's what I did. These are really basic, nothing too elaborate but yeah :) Enjoy!

Sally Hansen (again!) Complete Salon Manicure Without a Stitch

Hi guys,

I have a swatch for you today of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Without a Stitch. It's a beige cream nude and has no shimmer, no anything, just plain old work conservative colour. Not sure if it really fits me but I like it.

Sally Hansen HD High Definition Nail Color in 16 Laser

Hi guys,

This one is so pretty but so hard to photograph because it's duochrome or whatever fancy word describes it. It basically looks like two or more colours rather than just one. I found it in a random place. I was on the way to a job interview (not even a serious one) and saw this little liqidation sale going on at a subway station that I seldom go to. And I noticed nail polish & cosmetics were on sale for really cheap so I decided I would stop by after the interview. I did and I picked up a bunch of nail polish. This is one that I got. It is Sally Hansen Laser, such a cool name.

It wasn't easy to get a decent photo of this one because as you can see it shows up mostly blue in the pictures and you only see a tiny bit of purple. But this isn't accurate at all. In real life, it comes up as BOTH blue and purple and not just one overpowering the other. Do you get what I mean?

I have two pictures that show more of the purple but it's still not 100% accurate.

This bottle picture is probably best representation of how it looks on the nail. I don't know why but my camera is telling me that colour in the bottle does not translate onto the nail but that isn't the case.
Anyway, that's my camera/colour woes for you! Hope you enjoyed looking!
